For Molly Caudery, the Paris Olympic Games were an unmountained disaster, so much so that she “afflicted” for her matches for weeks later. Caudery arrived with a spring in his step as a new indoor world champion and a serious medal competitor, so she finds what happened then difficult to explain. All she knows is that she failed to release the bar, and her Olympic Games were finished before they took the air.
“I can” non-high “once a year or once every two years, and mine was just on the biggest competition in my life,” she smiles. “It’s not ideal, but what can I do now?” All I can do is learn and not let it happen again. ”

I spent a lot of time with my family and my friends and it was almost like a period of mourning. But then it is like, what can you do? I can’t go back and change my time. I can only expect what is going on now and it’s useless to live at this time for too long.”
Caudery is now looking forward to, addressing journalists by video in Nanjing, China, before the world athletics championships this weekend that start on Friday.
She is there as an important part of a small British team with 11 athletes, featuring the new 60m European champion in the room Jeremiah Azu and captain by the 1500m runner Neil Gourley, and she came in promising form with something to defend. The Caudery gold medal in this championship last year in Glasgow was a moment of breakthrough for the 25 -year -old woman from Cornwall, and she is determined to protect her crown as a queen of the interior pole jump. The three Olympic medalists in Paris are absent from the starting list in China this weekend, and the door is open in Caudery to repeat the feat.
“I think I can still gain a lot of confidence from last season and the heights that I jumped and especially inside and get this title. I would like to try to keep it and that’s what I will try to do. And in itself, it’s so exciting and I know that I am in good position to be able to do it.”
The pole jump is undoubtedly the craziest of the disciplines of athletics, the one whose most googled questions are to ask who invented it and why. “I would love to try to try five meters this year,” she said. “I am not someone who will come to 4.70 m, it’s too high, but around this brand of 4.50 m is comfortable for me. And as long as I do nothing really crazy, as I may have in Paris, it should go.”
The Olympic Games hurt, but Caudery is determined to arm this pain.
“What I got from Paris was an additional fire and an additional desire for this year. I took this in winter and I trained so hard and I went out this year and there is this additional desire in me, and I think it is a positive thing. “
