Justin Thomas shows flashes.
A week ago, he burnt down the course of the Stade des Players difficult at TPC Sawgrass with a record of 62. His record record lathe made him spend the weekend after opening with a 78.
This week, at the Valspar 2025 championship, Thomas was 1, just on the cup line for most of Friday until he went to 2 later, but he still did enough to return to the weekend.
Saturday, Thomas left, shooting 6-me of 65.
Just 1 under the turn, Thomas exceeded the 10th then went Eagle-Birdie-Birdie-Bogey-Birdie. It was 5 under a six -hole section and he signed for this 65. His latest Birdie on Saturday came to 16th and he is without Bogey and 2 under the snake pit, the last difficult section with three holes on the Copperhead course in Innisbrook.
Thomas played alongside Good Buddy Jordan Spieth for a third consecutive day, the last time it happened, it was the 2018 players’ championship. He admitted that there was a little “game in the game”.
“I think we were probably going to lie if we said no. I mean, he did,” said Thomas, adding that it wouldn’t hurt if the captain of the Ryder Cup 2025 took notes. “I hope Keegan looked at,” he said.
Back to Spieth Pairing: “We obviously appreciate everyone’s company and we played and are comfortable playing with each other and playing a lot of golf together. But certainly makes it much better when you are a little earlier than you want a Saturday morning, but you can somehow get the crowd. And it seemed to have made the crowd and it’s fun for us.”
Thomas was an advance by Jacob Bridgeman, but also finished before the last groups felt.
However, Thomas’s 65, the bass round of the week so far, contained it for a 16th victory of the PGA Tour although he needs another Sunday round Sunday. The champion last year, Peter Malnati, finished 12 sous. Taylor Moore won at 10 years under 2023. Sam Burns went 17 sous consecutive years to win the Valspar in 2021 and 2022.
“We always want to fight when we play one with each other and it pushes us to play better. But the last two times, he had the upper hand over me, then,” said Spieth. “He was going to be difficult to beat 6 under today. It’s just the latter like five, this last holes for me, I had the impression of having left two, three there and he capitalized. Being 5 sous, as he is, you probably have a fairly good chance of winning. For me, I am a little further.”
Speith is in a group with a tie of 3 sous, which was three in advance when he signed his dashboard.
